OUR FACILITY

The CWS C&D Recycling facility is permitted and licensed by the State of California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and CalRecycle. All municipalities in the Greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas recognize the CWS facility for mandatory recycling compliance purposes. By using CWS, you are assured of compliance with all municipal recycling mandates.

CWS is an active member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and is an expert in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (L.E.E.D.) sustainable building program as it pertains to C&D waste recycling. For more details about L.E.E.D. recycling.

Nearly every municipality maintains a mandatory ordinance requiring recycling of C&D waste. Failure to comply may result in fines, loss of building permit, and/or failure of issuance for the final Certificate of Occupancy. The City of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Torrance, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Gardena, Inglewood, Lakewood, Cerritos, Compton, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Fe Springs all have strict recycling ordinances. CWS strongly suggests contacting your local building department to fully understand the legal aspects for responsible recycling. View more information on your municipality in L.A. County.

As of January 1, 2011, the City of Los Angeles adopted a mandatory C&D recycling ordinance requiring waste material to be hauled and processed by City of Los Angeles approved haulers and processors. CWS is a licensed hauler (#09-058) and a licensed processor. Similar to other municipal recycling ordinances, a performance bond will be required before a building permit will be issued to guarantee compliance. To learn more about the new ordinance, view this link.

CWS is ready to manage your recycling compliance in a professional and timely manner, whether to satisfy your local municipal recycling mandate - or for L.E.E.D. compliance. Within three business days of a request, CWS will provide, free of charge, a CIWMB and L.E.E.D. approved detailed Recycling Report that is recognized by every municipality. By using CWS, you are assured your project will be fully compliant with all recycling requirements.

The following is general information regarding the state mandated recycling requirements:

AB 341
In October of 2011, Assembly Bill (AB) 341 set a 75% recycling goal for California by the year 2020. This law mandates that all Commercial business and public entities that generate four cubic yards or more of solid waste per week, and multi-family complexes with five units or more, are subject to mandatory recycling and required to do one of the following:

  1. Separate recyclable materials from the solid waste that are discarded, and either self – haul or arrange for separate collection of the recyclables; or
  2. Subscribe to a service that includes mixed waste processing that provides diversion results comparable to source separation.
  3. For more information on AB 341 (Mandatory Commercial Recycling) and AB 1826 (Mandatory Organic Waste Recycling), please visit LA County Smart Business Recycling and CalRecycle websites.

CWS does not offer Municipal Solid Waste collection – only Construction and Demolition waste collection in our public dump site.
